Funny How That Works

Have you ever had one of those moments where you go from everything is great to full blown rage in a matter of seconds? You’re not alone, it just happened to me as I was working on updating the site. I’m not a major tech type, so computers often get the best of me. But as I was contemplating whether or not to throw my laptop in the trash and give up, the Holy Spirit checked me. He brought to my attention Romans 3:3-5. “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our heart through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Wait, did I read that right? we REJOICE in our sufferings? Absolutely! As we read on, we find that there is significant growth when we go through the ringer. When you suffer, you learn to endure. Think about young men and women heading off to boot camp. Their first week there has more than earned its nickname. The new recruits suffer and are pushed to their limits only to find out that they can indeed, go farther than they thought possible. They learn to endure which builds character. Character being that element that people will judge about you more than anything else. Is this a person of integrity? Can I trust them? They’re evaluating your character. They are trying to see what you are made of. But once you have developed your character by going through the fire, you have great hope. Hope because you know that no matter what life throws at you, God is right there with you. You have hope because you have developed a relationship with the Holy Spirit and trust that He will never lead you astray.
Hope will never let you down. God cannot fail you. We may, in our flesh blame God for things that have happened in our lives, but if you truly look back, you will see the hand of God over every situation. He is Hope, He is Love, He Is
So when you find yourself going through tough times, take a minute to thank the Lord for caring about you enough to help you grow
